New Poster

The husband has been asking me to create a poster for him to hang up at his office. I designed this one a few weeks ago, but haven’t committed to printing it quite yet.

I am always my biggest critic, so what do you think of it? Too girly? Too flashy? Let me know!

SSNTM

This is the 2010 edition of StudioSister’s Next Top Model!  Big thanks to Morgan for willingly modeling on my new backgrounds!  So, here they are.  I’m still trying to come up with some quirky set names.

The muslins are coming!

The husband and I successfully hung the new muslin track in the studio yesterday afternoon. Well, let’s be honest, he hung the track and I aided by handing him screws and hardware. I can’t wait to test it out soon! Any volunteers?

Family Holiday Portraits

I’ve started fulfilling several of my client’s orders for holiday portraits.  The new printer is working great and I couldn’t be happier with the product that it outputs!  Very high quality!  These are the remaining family sessions I shot a few weeks ago.  I still have three more families on the books for the end of November and beginning of December.  It’s been a busy holiday season and I’m loving it!

Villagran Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  The entire family was dressed in their Christmas clothes for photos on one of the warmest days we had in November!  Dedicated!

2.  They brought their dog, AND she was wearing cute little bows with bells!

3.  I adore watching the interaction between sisters.  These two were so cute!

Leigh & Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Leigh’s sister bought her portrait session for them as a gift.  I love photos as gifts!

2.  I couldn’t help but stare at her boyfriend the entire time as he looks exactly like a good friend of ours.  And when my husband saw the photos, he said the same thing!

3.  Their little boy is going to be quite the heartbreaker someday!  I brought my friend Carrie with the help assist and he flirted with her the entire time!

Karrin & Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  I love the name of their daughter, EllaLeah (I’m totally guessing on the spelling here!)

2.  I was only able to shoot ONE photo of the little lady with an actual SMILE on her face, so I had to work my PhotoShop magic…

3.  This was their very first family photo!

Susan & Dave

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  THEY WERE SO MUCH FUN!

2.  They were more than happy to be featured on the website!

3.  Susan brought all sorts of extra quick-change accessories that really made the colors pop in their photos.

Retouching Challenge

I love retouching!  I almost love it as much as photography itself.  My friend Courtney had a challenge for me, so I took her up on it.  Her mom was really hoping she would be able to get this old family photo cropped.  The store machines did not do the job.  Here’s what I was able to do.

Success!

Kiddos!

Kids grow up so fast, that I think it’s really important to find the time to capture those moments in between all the “big” moments.  Here are a few sessions from my latest child sessions.

Alyssa & Trevor

These two cuties are twins.  This shoot was done right as they turned 7 months old.  It only became more apparent just how different twins really are!

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  I plan on having boy/girl twins myself (because that’s so easy to plan, right…?) so this was great practice for when I’ll constantly be shoving the camera into the face of my own kids someday.

2.  I fell in love with Alyssa’s adorable little blue and brown polka-dotted dress immediately.

3.  Trevor looks just like a little man in his big boy outfit, complete with belt!  I also adore how smiley he is!

Cassie

Cassie is the older sister of Trevor and Alyssa.  Her session was shot just a few weeks before the twins’ at City Park in the heart of Denver, CO.

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Doesn’t it look like she was just posing for these photos?!  She looks amazing!

2.  I think she really enjoyed our all girls afternoon in the park.  It gave her a chance to spend some one-on-one time with Mommy.

3.  Believe it or not, she was covered in mosquito bites!  Thank you, PhotoShop!

Dilana

I’m proud to call Miss Dilana Lyric my niece!  I insisted on having a mini session with her while visiting family back in Chicago this past summer.  I’m looking forward to going back home again to shoot her 1st birthday cake demolish session!  I absolutely adore her!

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Her name!  I love it!

2.  These photos were simply shot on my brother’s back deck, but I love shooting on brick walls, so I was thrilled.

3.  She was pleasant the entire time, right up until the end when she threw up all over herself.  Babies do that…

Family Photos

While brides may not be rushing to get married during the winter, I’ve been keeping pretty busy doing family photos.  I sold a coupon on crowdsavings.com a few months ago and it brought in alot of business.  Here are some of the great families I’ve had the chance to photograph in the past few weeks.

Wilkinson Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Matt and Emily are originally from Iowa, plus they are Hawks fans!

2.  This session was shot on their sons’s 1st birthday, which also happened to be the day before my 1-year wedding anniversary.

3.  I loved the open air feel of Cherry Creek State Park.  There was so much more to shoot there if we had the time.

Kenney Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  The kids were perfect little models!

2.  We had to come up with a plan to allow the kids to scream after every 5th photo, as they wanted to every time the lights flashed.

3.  They were one of my crowdsavings.com buyers.  Yay!

Wade Family

My three favorite things about this session:

1.  Meghan and I have been friends for as long as I remember and she wanted to be sure I was available to shoot her family photos next time I came for a visit to my hometown.

2.  Gabby usually pretty much adores me but as soon as I got the camera out, she didn’t want much to do with me.  She still looks adorable though!

3.  We went to Duck Creek Lagoon to take the photos.  I hadn’t been there since high school – over a decade ago!
